Cancellation & Refund Policy

We understand that plans change. Below is our complete cancellation and refund policy. Please review it carefully before booking. If you have questions, contact us at info@luminarytours.com or the contact email listed on the website through which you booked your service.

Standard Day Tours (Driver & Walking)

  • Cancellations made 24 hours or more before the scheduled tour start time are eligible for a full refund.
  • Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour start time are non-refundable.
  • No-shows (customer does not appear at pickup) are non-refundable.
  • Rescheduling is free if requested more than 24 hours in advance, subject to availability.

Walking Tours

  • Cancellations 48 hours or more in advance: Full refund.
  • Cancellations 24–48 hours before the tour: 50% refund.
  • Cancellations less than 24 hours before or no-shows: Non-refundable.

High Season Policy (March, April & New Year)

During high season — March, April, and New Year (December 28 – January 3) — all day tours require a minimum of 3 days (72 hours) notice for free cancellation, regardless of tour type.

  • Cancellations 72 hours or more before the tour: Full refund.
  • Cancellations 24–72 hours before the tour: 50% refund.
  • Cancellations less than 24 hours before or no-shows: Non-refundable.

Luxury & Multi-Day Custom Packages

  • Cancellations 30 or more days before the first tour date: Full refund.
  • Cancellations 15–30 days before the first tour date: 50% refund.
  • Cancellations less than 15 days before the first tour date: Non-refundable.
  • No-shows are non-refundable.

Bookings Including Tickets or Hotel Reservations

Where your booking includes pre-purchased tickets (theme parks, museums, cruises) or hotel reservations:

  • Refundable partner items will be refunded minus a 15% administrative fee (minimum $100).
  • Non-refundable items (non-refundable hotel rates, pre-sold attraction tickets) cannot be refunded regardless of cancellation timing.
  • We will always inform you of the refundable status of each component before confirming your booking.

Weather & Force Majeure

Tours operate in all weather. If severe weather (typhoon warning, road closures) makes the tour impossible or unsafe, we will offer a full reschedule or full refund at no charge. This does not apply to minor rain or cold.

EU Consumers — Right of Withdrawal

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, EU Directive 2011/83/EU (as amended by Directive 2023/2673) gives you a 14-day right of withdrawal for most distance contracts. Tours and other leisure services performed on a specific date or within a specific period are exempt from this right under Article 16(l) of the Directive. Because every booking on this site is tied to a specific tour date, the 14-day cooling-off period does not apply once your booking is confirmed.

The cancellation and refund terms above apply instead and are, in most cases, more generous than the statutory minimum.

How to Request a Refund

  • Email info@luminarytours.com (or the contact email listed on the website through which you booked your service) with your booking reference number and reason for cancellation.
  • The cancellation date is the date on which we receive your written request.
  • Approved refunds are processed via the original payment method within 10 business days.
  • We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to cover cancellations, medical emergencies, and other unforeseen circumstances.
